Nope, that more or less covers it.
Stop and hardcast pyroblast when you get pyroclasm procs during the execution phase!

Re: Pyroclasm #1?
What do you know, I sim higher with firestarter aswell. It's probably because the potential guaranteed pyroclasm crits outweighs the larger amounts of non crit pyroblasts. in practice I suspect the simulated difference is so small that the increased mobility of searing touch probably has a more sign...

Re: Taking crit over vers
It depends on build. The strongest (and most difficult) build right now is RoP + Meteor, this build relies on massive amounts of versatility and mastery. The alternative build, incanter's flow + pyroclasm rewards haste + crit stacking. I prefere the alternative build personally, it is theoretically ...

Re: Question about two often heard claims
Crit is only scaling poorly for the RoP + Meteor build. Crit is a pretty solid stat for fire mages running Incanter's invocation + Pyroclasm. Currently RoP + Meteor does sim slightly higher than any other fire build, but it is far more vulnerable to unexpected events in raids and in my opinion harde...

Re: Possible new way to talent for fire unsure how to sim it.
I believe firmly in discussing everything, it's the only way to challenge conventional wisdom :) Lets talk numbers, working with estimates. Combustion has a base cooldown of 2 minutes. During a combustion phase we generally see about 12 crits. We will have another 9 fireblasts before the next combus...

Re: 2 questions
The only situations where it's beneficial for a fire mage to change targets is if the mage is worried the target will die before the cast finish, or if the Fire mage is running firestarter and wants to fish for free crits to fuel more instant cast pyroblasts / flamestrikes. We'll need another fire m...

Re: fire mage buff
I initially looked at Steffenesjef logs for Ghuun and attributed it to abnormal luck, I set out to gather the evidence to prove that claim and as I dug into it I realized I was quite far off the mark. His critical rating was at 30%. his haste was 13% He had 3 combustion phases. with his haste rating...

Re: fire mage buff
It would be a nice surprise, but these tuning patches are only meant to be number tweakings.
Talent and spell changes won't occur before 8.1 and it is not known if Fire will receive any changes by then.

Re: Stats for ST and AOE
You did indeed, I figured the response would do just as much good in here :) Your conclusion that it might be more fun to rely on the higher RNG of crit based builds to sometimes archieve competetive results, even if the average is slightly lower than the haste based builds, happens to be equally tr...

Re: Stats for ST and AOE
I think the results we see on alllstar warcraftlogs are RNG based. The higher your crit is, the better your chance of getting successive critical hits for extra hot streaks. This basicly means that if you are unlucky, your higher crit will not yield extra hot streaks and you won't crit on Pyroclasm ...

Re: Stats for ST and AOE
I think thecomment was refering to your post about how pawn recommended you stacked crit, not that it matters. If I had to make a recommendation for a place to sim your character, I would suggest https://www.raidbots.com/simbot I personally spend some time verifying the math in addition I compare it...

Re: Fire Azerite Traits - Post Nerf
My read on duplicative incineration is that it will get worse and worse as we get better and better geared, due to the fact that it doesn't scale with our fireballs raw damage, in addition we will be casting fewer fireballs as we get better gear. But for our progression fights in Uldir, I still firm...

Re: Stats for ST and AOE
In my experience, for reliable sustained single target damage, you want to stack haste over crit. Haste reduces the cooldown of fireblast and increases the rate at which you throw fireballs, which translates into more instant cast pyroblasts aswell, furthermore with the duplicative incineration azer...

Re: According to everyone fire is bad right now.
I share the same experience as the OP, the damage of the fire spec is competetive in current content. Fire got some weak points: Dedicated AoE encounters. Snares. Maybe scaling. On the topic of scaling, there is some evidence suggesting that the fire mage gets lower dps returns on secondary stats co...
