Re: 7.1.5 Secondary Stats nerf - can it break fire gameplay?

One could claim haste is less boring, in a spec that has 0 differences in rotation due to crit during cooldowns. Versatility helps on defense and offense but it's not even a stat in my mind. More like a "buff the character in total" stat, mainly created to accommodate things like the vantus runes an...

Re: 7.1.5 Secondary Stats nerf - can it break fire gameplay?

It has 15% uptime with an ~80% contribution to DPS. It is more convenient to Hot Streak! a lot because it allows more movement but it's not a requirement and there is Enhanced Pyrotechnics. You will not only be spamming Fireball for 80 seconds so that's a strawman exaggeration.

Re: Ursoc on heroic or higher and ROP

It's a controversial issue in reality since the general suggestion here is to hold on to RoPs but that has an element of DPS loss into it so one has to determine if it's a gain to hold on to them in order to use them seconds later in full. Then again that puddle doesn't seem reduce dps unless a roar...

Re: How-to quickly compare gear on Simcraft

It should be mentioned how to quickly sim relics because it's a pain to do it properly with full ID and bonus IDs without messing up or spending a lot of time copy pasting IDs and bonus IDs. Step 1: Remove the relic IDs from the artifact= line and replace them with 0s, e.g. it turns to artifact=54:0...

Re: Help with Relic SIM?

Definitely. Cast time fireball is in practice identical so there is no reason to not go with higher ilevel. Simming relics is pain. I will update or reply at https://www.altered-time.com/forum/view ... f=2&t=3029" target="_blank with a way on how to do it easily.

Re: Gems!!!

Fire spec? Fire spec I guess. 200 int is slightly better than crit last time I checked. It was such a low difference though that it wouldn't matter much. A raid leader should not care if a fire mage uses only crit gems.

I thought it's good for Arcane. It doesn't seem to have high preferences in secondaries. In fact, priorities seem to often shift anyway.

Re: [Mini Guide] How to pick your relics

it only makes a 0.1% difference between 3x Pyro +3 and 3x Fcast +3.
Why do you even compare those? They are within error. You might as well consider them 0% different.

Re: Need help choosing my spec.

For raids alone - as you ask for them only -, Arcane is probably the best raid spec, if we assume a future patch situation of numbers balance on their current utility and merits. It has the most potent defenses in the class by far, with Greater Invis, double Ice Barrier AND Displacement. The general...

Re: Trinket choice for fire mage

Because it is an inditcation that there might be something wrong with simulations. So far I knew that Haste was the least valuable past the 1800 cap, so I'm surprised / concerned to see that Simcraft values it the best past Crit and Int. The problem here is that you place too much value on preconce...

Re: 7.1.5 Secondary Stats nerf - can it break fire gameplay?

So I was reading on BlizzCon interviews, and one of the things I read on Wowhead kinda got me worried: * We really want a BIG ilvl upgrade that drops to be a true upgrade. * We are looking to narrow the gap between secondary stat balance. http://www.wowhead.com/news=257423/blizzcon-2016-legion-what...

Re: Trinket choice for fire mage

If sims are inconclusive how can someone easily conclude? You need to analyse your results. e.g. is it an AOE fight, is it a mixed AOE, are some trinkets impractical? e.g. I have a Twisting Wing trinket and that thing seems to hit nothing sometimes. Also why do you think the secondary scalings have ...

Re: Is fire mage still the 'way to go'?

There is really no super spec. Arcane does good ST and good AOE but it has to be more in melee range and manage the rotation harder, Fire is good at AOE and barely mediocre in ST but generally easy to play while Frost is best at ST, not as good in AOE. In contrast Arcane has the fewest keypresses a...

Re: [7.1] Fire mage guide for Legion, by Rinoa

A sample of 2 fights is irrelevant because of a heavy RNG element, unless you want to check mechanics of spells on an individual level in order to code simcraft. The trinket isn't useless on ST though. It's clearly worse than other, ST trinkets, but it's not a disaster either.

Re: Ignite Spreading

The biggest concern for tanks with a fire mage is how they pull mobs. So if you don't intend to pull the entire room of enemies (neutral or not) don't pull the enemies near other enemies (not sure what type of tank you are, but think about it like shockwave distance from each enemy aggroed). It's s...

These are done on the default T19H profile, with the differ............... Ok so if i am reading this correctly a 885 blink/molten relic is basically the same as a 875 Fire Blast relic?, I don't know. Let's see. An 885 is +53 weapon levels; an 875 is +51 so the difference is -2 (it's not always the...

Re: [7.0] Fire Talents, Trinkets, Racials, Stats, Legendary

This means that we spent 15% of the fight >85% HP - which gives significant strength to Firestarter. In reality, this is not a reasonable assumption to make. Therefore, Firestarter is overvalued here. It's probably nowhere near as good as it seems here, and it's value shifts as you take different t...
