There is also minimum range of 18 yards for the fireball + pyro flight times to sync. The pyro+pyro melee range i was unaware of but makes perfect sense.

If the sim says shoulders are better for you then bracers then that's the case. The standard sims are run with a basic mythic t20 profile, your stats could well be very different from it adjusting the power of the legendaries as well.

Your safest best is to just go off what the sim says.
