Re: Basing gear choice on simulations.

Below, I'll use the 0 secs-point as when you use Evocation for the first time; obviously, your first Evocation wouldn't be 0 seconds into the fight. Without GS; 5 minute fight, evocation used on cooldown: 0 secs: Evocation 90 secs: Evocation 180 secs: Evocation 270 secs: Evocation. 4 Evocations. Wit...

Re: Basing gear choice on simulations.

I have; quite a few times since I wear GS. The recharge of Evocation is sequential. And you don't really need WA to test it, although I do use WA. Try this: Put on GS, press Evocation twice in a row so both charges go on CD right away. You'll see that once the first charge comes off CD, only then do...

Re: Current State of Mages: Statistical Round-Up

The conclusion seems to be that you might want to switch specs between fights, not only talents. Indeed. As far as Nighthold goes, the statistical evidence emphatically underlines that Fire and Aracane are only worthwhile on Skorpyron, Spellblade and Tichondrius. In all other fights, they have to b...

Katsumi, thanks for adding this valuable input to the thread. I've been away for a while and haven't had a chance to catch up. I'll look it over shortly and comment. Thanks again.

Re: Current State of Mages: Statistical Round-Up

imagine a 4min30 fight... guess who will be on top? that's one reason for logs/dps meters "not being a meaningful benchmark". First, you've switched argument so that now it's logs and dps meters as tools that don't provide meaningful benchmarks. What was discussed before was overall damage. And aga...

Re: Current State of Mages: Statistical Round-Up

message was just "try to give less fucks about logs based on overall dmg" This, to me, is actually a very worhtwhile discussion. And the following is not so much that I disagree with you, but rather to instigate a discussion: How much damage you do on a boss fight is a benchmark. For better and for...

Re: Current State of Mages: Statistical Round-Up

Your post is interesting in a number of ways. there are so many things you need to take into account to figure out if a specc is good If you re-read my post, you'll notice that I've included no analytical conclusions about the state of mages. I've simply presented numbers. You indicate that those nu...

Current State of Mages: Statistical Round-Up

I’ve compiled a few stats from Warcraft Logs that are indicative of the current state of mages. Stats are drawn from 24 parsed dps specs, 80th percentile, over two weeks of raids, all regions. Mythic All bosses Fire Mage: 22nd Frost Mage: 17th Arcane Mage: 21st Scorpyron Fire Mage: 2nd Frost Mage: 1...

Concerning Logs

One of our tanks, who normally logs our raids, hasn't been playing for a while so I decided to try my hand at it having never really messed around with logging before. I've stumbled upon something I can't quite figure out, though, and I'm hoping someone more log savvy than I, which will be just abou...

Yes. Actually this is not a big deal in raids, it might be problematic in m+
Indeed. Was specifically thinking of QoL nerf in M+.

Shard of the Exodar Your Time Warp will be applied to yourself at 25 sec duration when you are affected by Temporal Displacement or similar effects. Also, I guess, don't discount that you stand to gain - depending on the ilvl of your alternate item, of course - in the region of 500-600 intellect by wearing a legendary head item rather than a legendary wrist item.

Is this and Neylo's guide plain out wrong in a few places? It diverges both of sims and top logs.

Could you perhaps elaborate a bit?

Re: SimCraft Stat Weights

A giant overmagnification of this scenario would be getting the Fel Ejection on Star Augur Etraeus. You get the debuff (assuming no AMs) and you can move, cast, move, cast, move, cast but if you're haste is too low, you can't get off a cast inbetween and you're left to only AM, Abarrage, or AE, whi...

Re: 7.1.5 - Arcane Mage Guide - Updated: 02-01-2017

i usually use rop/moa/ap in the opener, and after i done i use rop again to burn my AM charges. Its off cd on time again for the next MoA /\ | | That's only part of the answer to the question asked. Making sure MoA go with RoP isn't dificult. The initial question had three variables: RoP, MoA and A...

Guys, don't draw conclusions based on you outplaying most of your team mates. The stats are cold and unbiased: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/statistics/11#difficulty=4&dataset=90" target="_blank If we're talking ST here we should really look at the "damage to bosses" stat. https://www.warcraftlogs.c...

Re: Regarding fire's single-target DPS after 7.1.5

The stats are cold and unbiased: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/statistics/11#difficulty=4&dataset=90" target="_blank I have to agree with this. A lot of this discussion about the level of Fire ST damage post 7.1.5 is based on anecdotal evidence. You might have bracers and shard, and you might get in...

Re: 7.1.5 - Arcane Mage Guide - Updated: 01-14-2017

Other classes can do what we do better, but there is no reason you can't bring an Arcane mage. Thank you for sharing your numbers. I have to say, though, that based on the logs you've shared, I'm not quite sure your above remark holds up. I assume that you're a good player; your gear is quite good ...
