I think you've learne arcane momentum. It causes right the thing you described. It blinks backwards cause you're moving backwards.
Just unlearn the arcane momentum and it will be fine

For what i can tell after first week of our progress on this boss, the fire cleaves a lot, but it can also be reduced by the amount of mastery you have. With decent low mastery even arms warrior cleaves more than you.

When you have many stacks of shadow floor 10+ you have to cross the border in order to reset the stacks. if it is not possible (already high stacks of astral something) then i reccomend to block it.

The secret is that it is little buggy, if the boss is pulled away while you cast it, it will travel to the boss and stop. But it will deal no dmg --> no proc.
So the trick is use it under the boss or better time it if you know that the boss will be in move in opposite direction.

The problem with frost is that you bring that class to the dungeon due to longer fights. If you want to run low mythic+, arcane is much better for that. In higher dungeons you need stronger ST and cleave that frost can offer with right talents. And taking CmS and bone chilling dont do much dmg on ST...
