Re: Charged Up

The other options in the row really don't bring much to the table in raids, so Charged Up is the default choice really. Resonance is good for mythic plus trash. Supernova is sadly garbage across the board.

Re: [BfA] Arcane Mage Guide for 8.0 (BfA pre-patch) - TLDR version

Honestly Overpowered + Time Anomaly was too strong, but I'm not sure why they were concerned since the content is irrelevant. The replacement is kind of a joke, though.

Re: Arcane mages for BFA "early alpha"

I've had a chance to play the F&F Alpha and check out the early build for Arcane. Evocation has it's regular cooldown. Temporal Flux is not yet implemented, so there's not much information on how it works, though. Arcane Barrage hits HARD - generally harder than a 4-stack AB, but probably not as har...

Re: Arcane Mage rotation and problems

As a general rule, you're only casting barrage when you're below ~50% mana and you've hit 4 stacks of Arcane Charge. The whole idea is to keep your mana just high enough that you can complete a full burn phase when your cooldowns come up without going OOM. Assuming you understand when to cast Arcane...

Re: Low Parsing Antorus - Arcane Mage

Any and all help would be appreciated. Considering the legos that you have, Resonance possibly isn't the best talent available to you and Charged Up is probably better, as it will give you better burn phases. That will change drastically once you have Kilt + Mantle, which are the preferred legos fo...

Re: What could make us better?

I think Arcane mechanics are mostly in a good place - I agree with the challenging gameplay. Honestly the only thing I think the spec could use is a reworking of our cleave, since we get mutilated on 2-target fights. Touch of the Magi is really underwhelming as an artifact trait. Perhaps a chance to...

Re: Low Parse for Heroic TOS

I honestly wouldn't worry about your parses right now if you haven't been raiding TOS long. A lot of the high parses out there are coming from mythic raiders on farm clears that have been doing TOS since day one, and they're most likely being allowed to ignore or cheese mechanics to increase their p...

Re: Two rings leggos - stats?

Double ring is fun, but requires really careful mana management, and admittedly I've gotten sloppy due to playing with Kilt for so long, so it's not super easy to do on all the ToS bosses. From what I can tell, double ring is really beneficial for fights that have clear DPS phases and pause phases. ...

Re: Gear for Tomb

Mantle is really quite good for Harjatan, Sass'zine & Host. It's "meh" for Inquisition, though, and I would use shard instead. I don't have great parses on all of the fights this clear (I'm a decidedly average player), but I did manage a pretty solid Sass'zine using Mantle: https://www.warcraftlogs....

Re: New shoulder legendary.

60% chance to proc an arcane orb with 4 charges.

Pretty high chance to be chain-casting 4-stack barrage & arcane orb, unless there's an internal cooldown that we don't know about. Even waiting for arcane barrage cooldown, this would be crazy powerful in AOE situations.

Re: Arcane expectations for 7.2.5

Our cleave can be addressed easily by increasing the proc chance of Touch of the Magi, and allowing it to proc from Arcane Missiles in addition to Arcane Blast.

Right now it's such an insignificant amount of our DPS considering that it's a gold trait. They really need to put some focus here.

How does the Panda racial scale now that raid feasts give 500 primary stat? I feel like they are no longer tied for the worst but I don't have any math to prove it.

Re: T20 arcane tier bonuses

This seems like a pretty nice bonus on paper - it will make our secondary burn phases a little more flexible, since we won't need to ramp up into them, going back to only needing to watch mana management. Will be nice for jamming a burn phase into one of those small windows where some of the more co...

Re: Advice on how to improve dps (Kilt & Spiral)

There has been a lot of speculation about the viability of an infinite burn TF build using kilt & spiral together, but nobody here has really had a chance to test it since I don't think anyone talking about it has the two legendaries in question. I would imagine, if it's possible, that you'd also ne...

Re: SimCraft Stat Weights

When you think about how we single target vs. how we AoE, it makes sense that our top stats will be at odds with each other. Less spellcasts on ST while maintaining charge stacks, so you want spells to hit as hard as possible, which is why vers and mastery are important. More spellcasts during AoE, ...

Re: Help for the Girlfriend

Yeah, there's a bit of a gear issue - her legendary is really not any good at all. I suspect when she gets something with substantial stats or a damage modifier, you'll see her output increase. The trinkets are not great for her gear. Metronome isn't very good if you don't have the kilt, and as said...

Re: I am so lost.

Guldan and Botanist are two or our less-amazing fights due to lots of target swapping and cleave, which are not the best attributes of Arcane. Parsing on Botanist will look crappy if you're doing ranged mechanics correctly, because there's a bunch of Arcane mages that just sit on the melee and AoE t...

Re: Has anyone got Whispers in the Dark? Thoughts?

I mean, it's still a *good* trinket, but it's just going to be one of those RNG things that can make a fight feel funny and throw your rotation out of whack a bit. Whispers and Metronome are causing all sorts of trouble for fire mages, too, throwing off their crit chains due to projectiles taking lo...

Re: Has anyone got Whispers in the Dark? Thoughts?

Whispers was simming higher before the adjustments went in last week, but now we're seeing that a lot of the stat-stick trinkets are better for output, since they're predictable and don't alter your rotation as much. You can have a really great encounter with Whispers one fight, and then have it tot...

Re: PTR Change - AE

That makes sense, but the second seems a little too drastic. Losing the full coefficient from (1+.75)% x 1000 would mean you're down to 750 from 1750. That would be losing ~58% of the damage on AE, but only gaining a 20% mirrored AE, equating to a nearly 40% nerf. I really don't feel like they'd giv...
