Re: Artifical complexity
Frost is a special case, as it has not 1 but 2 procs instead. The artifical complexity again comes from the fact that Ice lance should always follow the Flurry Proc, essentially becoming a Fingers of Frost proc. Mathematically, if 2 occurrences always occur with one another, they can be calculated ...

Re: Artifical complexity
Fire has 2 spells that can contribute to procing Hot Streak, Fire Blast and Phoenix's Flames. The question begs itself, if 2 abilities do the exact same thing, why is there a need for both of them? Frost mage here. But you're clearly missing a major point about fire. Fire blast is castable while ca...

Re: T20 2 piece question
If you are far enough from target you can do ebonbolt>FO>flurry>lance and most likely not munch anything. FO travels rather slow as well.Needs really 40y distance tho. Try to avoid casting FO at large distances, because it will often reach it's 40 yd max range and disappear, even before it has deal...

Re: Rotation
Pre-pot > Precast Ebonbolt > IV at end of Ebonbolt > Flurry > IL > Orb Technically speaking, it's slightly more optimal for a human to do this opener as pre-pot > Precast Ebon > Flurry > IV asap > IL > Orb. It's better to do it this way, because both ebonbolt and flurry will still both benefit from...

Re: I don't need more Crit - says The SimC
If you said that simc have issue with correct weigh of crit after 31%, you have other proof besides fact "shatter cap = 33%"? Sorry about a delay in the response. To answer your question, the reason Simcraft devalues crit early is because of the method it uses to generate stat weights. Simcraft eva...

Re: I don't need more Crit - says The SimC
There is a known issue with Simcraft devaluing crit early because of how it generates stat weights (so it is still your best stat up until 13334 crit rating aka 33.34%). However, I think the most likely culprit for the low crit rate is Splitting Ice cleave. Ice lances that you shatter with flurry (w...

Re: Guide to Thermally Voiding your Enemies in 7.2.5
Ice Time used to proc sephuz even when it did not freeze the target. As in, Ice Time procced sephuz on bosses who are immune to freeze effects. If Ice Time freezes targets with the frost nova it releases, it should still proc sephuz.

Re: How to use 2p-T20 frost ? GS Build
frost mages, uniquely (unlike any other spec) have damage calculated when a spell lands rather than when a spellcast finishes. This was a change made during legion launch for frost mage specifically. This change means that your buffs and effects take effect on a spell when the spell lands. So if you...

Re: [7.2] Frost Talents, Trinkets, Racials, Stats, Legendary
Anyone here with their 4pc? I just got 4pc last night and was trying to figure out if I should be changing my opener or not. Previously I was just precasting EB and shattering it with it's flurry while popping IV as Ebon was about to finish casting. I haven't done any simming, but through playtesti...

Re: Glacial Spike - How to Ham 101
Current knowledge says we always want to shatter the ebonbolt. Ebonbolt does a lot of damage, and you need to recognize that the glacial eruption that follows it up can also shatter if the target stands still when shattering ebonbolt. It is possible that at some point shattering GS would be better d...

Most likely Clarity of Thought will be the strongest trait in 7.2.5 for all builds. Followed by Let it go for TV builds and by Frostbolt Dmg for GS builds.

Re: Glacial spike vs TV talent funneling (gloves question)
The gloves are not worth using if you are not using TV. After being simmed using PTR values, it was found that even for nerfed TV, gloves are going to be bad. The legendary belt is quite good, so it'd be a good idea to use it. The legendary gloves certainly push a player towards TV, but if the PTR c...

Re: IceTime plus Sephuz combo
Your crit seems to be really low. You might want to take a look at your stat weights. He's probably just poorly itemized. Nighthold has very, very poor gearing options for frost mages. I've been forced all the way down to 22-23% crit, because high item level items have dropped for me, which are dps...

Re: Double Ice Lancing and world ms/input tolerance
This is a bug, but Blizzard will not be making any punishments to any players or anything like that for using this bug. If they were going to, they certainly would have done it already. Double ice lancing in some form has existed since very early Legion (basically since frost started actually being ...

Re: Regarding Simulationcraft
In order to generate stat weights, Simcraft adds a flat amount of a stat to your character, and compares the results to your normal characters/sims. It does this for each stat, and then you can see the comparison between each stat. Simcraft shows crit being low value, because it raises you above cri...

Re: Frost opener with gloves
The opener I prefer is: Ebon->flurry->IL+IV->orb->IL->stuff I have seen arguments from both sides and the two openers are probably a negligible amount of difference in dps. Comparing the other opener to mine: Pros (of mine): Shatters ebonbolt Gets out orb asap Consistently the same. You'll never hav...

Re: Guide to Thermally Voiding your Enemies in 7.2
So before the 7.2 trait Freezing rain, it's a dps loss to cast Blizzard on a single target. But if Frozen Orb is up and Blizzard is instant cast (minus GCD), isn't it better to cast Blizzard (only when Frozen Orb is up) to reduce the CD of the next Frozen Orb, or is it because of the low ticks on s...
Re: NH Builds
Depending on how much of your damage is frostbolt, UM gets stronger. But, I personally recommend to just always run AG unless you specifically need that little bit of ST damage. UM on ST gives you an average of a 12.5% increase to your frostbolt damage. Most TV builds have frostbolt as their 3rd dam...

Re: Question about the new artifact path
Single Target-wise, It's technically best to get old traits + OL and ignore freezing rain/glacial eruption, because freezing rain provides no benefit in ST, even though glacial eruption is the strongest single trait option (Basically, it's not worth 2 points) This is what sims show. However, in real...

Re: DPS Problem
Looking through a few different fights, there are 2 big things that stand out to me. 1) Your ice lance damage (compared to other mages) is incredibly low. For most players, ice lance is their #1 damage dealing spell, oftentimes by a considerable margin. On a lot of your single target logs, (I looked...
