TL;DR: Being average is NOT a mage thing . Well that's clearly not how blizzard sees it... Things change,game is evolving and so is the status quo of classes :P if blizz says mage is average then it is average..maybe next patch they decide it should be top .. Here is what I open with: At 3-4s to go on the pull countdown I use Potion of Prolonged Power and start casting Ebonbolt. Immediately following 2 x Frost Bolt and pet water ray. Cast Icy Veins. Then Proceed to dump ILs then cast Frozen Orb and then dump ILs again. Then using EB/PetRay/FO all on CD....

Yeah but you have all the BIS legendaries which help you a lot. Bracer, belt for single target. Helm for aoe. Just the bracers add ~100k dps.

It's weird to me that the waist leggo sims ahead of the ring. The scorch dmg+stats can't be better than having a 2nd hero.

What about the guaranteed crit? You know what happens when you crit 2 times in a row as fire mage?

Seems to be a purely a mathematical problem, and I would instantly switch specs if it weren't for artifacts, but alas. Not even artifact is a problem, as you can farm AP with WQ and M+. Getting to 35 isn't that bad. But legendaries are a problem and people who have them will always pull more dps.
