I meant how many targets does it take to remove barrage from the rotation and just spam explosion, afaik you still barrage when you get to 4 charges on 3 targets. I don't think any number of targets removes Barrage from the equation; your mana would drain too quickly to spam AE while evocate is on ...

You'd spam Arcane Explosion at 3+ targets due to Reverberation talent. I'd still wouldn't use Arcane Explosion endlessly on number below 3 targets regardless if I had 3x Explosive Echo traits methinks... From my own simming, a 930 owl is better than all other trinkets at 960 for pure ST damage. For AoE fights, or if you can't use owl, go with Injector or Decimator. Terminus Beacon is also good for big AoE fights (Eonar, etc).
