And getting more ticks is especially good because you spend more time at 10 stacks.
Going from 0% haste to 30% haste adds 4 ticks (3 normal and 1 partial), but as more ticks happen at 10 stacks, the damage damage gain from +30% haste is somewhere around +43% damage.

Re: [7.1.5] Frost Talents, Trinkets, Racials, Stats, Legenda
If you still have 8% haste from Frost Armor, you're using old SimC version. Get newer version, Frost Armor has been removed in 7.1.5.

Re: [7.1.5] Frost Talents, Trinkets, Racials, Stats, Legenda
This is not purely about Frostbolt damage + Frost Bomb damage > Frostbolt + UM damage. Frost Bomb is not free damage (unlike UM), if you don't use it, you'll spend more time casting Frostbolt, Ice Lance, etc and the damage from these spells will obviously go up. However, the bigger reason is that Fr...

Re: Ray of frost build?
To address few points: RoF is not really a filler. You absolutely want to use it with Icy Veins, it scales extremely well with haste. TV also usually wins even if you can't extend your Icy Veins that much. RoF channel time does not change with haste, it will always be 10 seconds no matter your haste...

Re: Guide to Thermally Voiding your Enemies in 7.1.5
Depends mostly on whether you're running Mirror Images and how many points you put into the paragon trait. At some point, Prolonged Power becomes better than DG, sim for yourself to find when that happens.
Against 2+ enemies, you want to use Prolonged Power regardless.

Re: Guide to Thermally Voiding your Enemies in 7.1.5
This is a combination of two factors: Chain Reaction nerf and Brain Freeze munching. Chain Reaction at 10%/stack means the guaranteed crit is far less impactful. If you have Brain Freeze up and cast another Frostbolt, there's a chance that this extra Frostbolt procs another Brain Freeze thus making ...

Guide to Thermally Voiding your Enemies in 7.2
Drozzy: Since Legion, Frozen Orb procs FoF per wave instead of per target. This means you get the same amount of FoF no matter how many enemies you're hitting (as long as you're hitting at least one).

Re: Guide to Thermally Voiding your Enemies in 7.1.5
If you are not sure, just ABC - Always Be Casting. Overcapping on FoF by casting Frostbolt is not a concern - you lose out more by not doing anything while Orb travels than by potentially risking wasting FoF in very rare cases. Overcapping on BF because of Ebonbolt can be a concern but as I stated a...

Re: Guide to Thermally Voiding your Enemies in 7.1.5
2) What do I do if I'm casting Ebonbolt and the Frostbolt that I just cast procs BF? Do I cancel Ebon to avoid munching a BF, or do I munch it and save the cast time? When I tried simming this, both options produced pretty much the same DPS. You can try cancelling the Ebonbolt, but only if you noti...

Re: Guide to Thermally Voiding your Enemies in 7.1.5
AoE opening sequence looks roughly like this: Blizzard, Frozen Orb, apply Frost Bomb, cast Rune of Power if talented, dump FoF, Freeze at 0 FoF, dump some more. If you have IN and CS, you dump FoF, cast CS, wait ~1 sec, cast Freeze and follow it up with IN, then dump more FoF. The reason to do this ...

Re: Guide to Thermally Voiding your Enemies in 7.1.5
Blizzard is only worth it on 2+ enemies. Against a single enemy, the reduction is not strong enough to make up for the lost Frostbolt casts.
Not sure about Arctic Gale and single enemy, probably depends on your particular stats/talent build.

This is all related to a bug with travel time. Keep an eye out on this issue and once it's fixed, wait for the next nightly.

Re: Cone of Cold Usage
Cone of Cold isn't actually that far off. Right now it has 57% sp coef. If the coef was somewhere between 90-130%, it would be worthwhile and yet not so impactful as to force us into melee range to do AoE.

Re: Cone of Cold Usage
The 100% buff moves its damage from absolutely horrible to just horrible, it's still not worth using against any number of targets.

Shatter and target based crit modifiers
Shatter multiplies critical strike chance by 1.5 and then adds another 50% on top of it. However, there are various other effects that modify crit chance and we'd like to know how they interact with Shatter. For example, we know that Shatter applies AFTER 15% crit bonus from Shattering Bolts or The ...

Re: Frost Mage Feedback from the PTR
Still reading it, but I wanted to comment on one point you made: AoE scaling with number of targets is precisely what the cooldown reduction does. If you're hitting more targets, you get stronger reduction, which means you cast more Frozen Orbs, which means you do more damage per target. Honestly, I...

Re: SimC PTR issue
The current master branch of SimC (legion-dev) is missing a lot of mage PTR stuff, including the damage auras. The mage-legion-dev branch should be alright, but as far as I know, there are no executables available for download so you'll have to compile it yourself. I've been meaning to check if the...

Re: SimC PTR issue
I found no problems with Glacial Spike damage.
Frostbolt coefficient, however, is really down to 175%. Just checked on PTR to be sure.
