Re: [SimC] WoD Frost SimC Disucssion
I was doing some simulations and noticing some anomalous results for Icicle damage. I read this thread and noticed a post back in Jan 2015 regarding an issue where triggering multiple icicles(via multistrikes) while at 5 icicles would end up making all the triggered icicles do the same damage inste...

Re: AMR Simulator Stuff
Thanks! It was pretty interesting looking at how he set some of them up. Also seems like some things I flagged were false positives (ie. regarding doom nova). Sorry about that!

AMR Simulator Stuff
Ask Mr Robot released a beta version of their own simulation software today, so I took some time to check it out. You can find their announcement at http://blog.askmrrobot.com/2016/05/wiki-style-simulator-web-based/" target="_blank .I found a number of issues with their Mage modelling, mostly with m...

No problem.
It does look like he forgot about 2/2 upgrades. That said, your numbers are still off by a bit, because you haven't accounted for crit depression yet.

Re: Fire Mages are alive again (Updated for 6.2.3)
1.3x multiplier is referring to Critical Mass, a Fire Mage passive. It's trying to calculate the exact amount of crit you need before all of your spells are guaranteed to crit (ie. 100% after crit depression mechanics) on Prismatic Crystal.

By now, I think it should be clear why we haven't had any serious SimC-based deep-dive threads on discussions related to PoF.

Re: Alternative to arcane bis boots?
Pretty much this.I think too many people just look at the stats, crit/vers vs haste/mastery and focus on the fact that mastery/haste are the two best while crit/vers are not, ignoring the ilvl difference and that Arcane doesn't have huge differences in stat weights.

Re: Prophecy of Fear [Megathread]
If you're doing a 40 second fixed_time sim, 250K iterations is nothing. Your variance is still way too high to make any meaningful judgements from the output, and it's not even good data because robomage will do a end-of-fight burn. You didn't include the distribution or sigma values in your screens...

Re: Prismatic crystal min/max
When PoM-AB is used at the end of PC's duration, it allows you to cheat an entire extra spell onto PC that you would have otherwise not have gotten. The scenario you're describing is trying to snapshot an extra AB under the effect of 4T18's 12% damage buff. Since PC is worth much more than that (30%...

Re: Frost Trinkets Question
The strength of DSI within sims is also partially due to using PC, which magnifies the power of Ice Lances quite a bit. Since Ice Lances benefit most from spellpower (thanks to Shatterlance), DSI's proc synergizes really well with it. Between the main lance hitting for ~250K and Splitting Ice hittin...

That's odd. From what I've heard, devs don't plan to fix this until Legion.

Re: Fire "conserve" rotation
The purpose of Pyrocamping is to improve proc rate of Pyroblasts. In essence, it increases your "Pyroblast proc success rate" beyond what your crit level would normally suggest. The DPS gain ultimately just comes from casting extra Pyroblasts. Past a certain level of crit, the long cast duration of ...

Re: Mage metrics for log analysis
I updated the AB < 93% query. Apparently I don't understand how the GROUP BY works, which caused more false positives. This seems more reliable: source.name = "dikembe" and type = "cast" and ability.id = "30451" and resources.type = 0 and resources.amountPercent < 93 and not in range from type = "a...

gear_crit_rating=2229 I mean...you did sort of just add 700 crit rating with that statement alone. Even with the default APL, it's a ~7% increase to overall damage. http://i.imgur.com/PMNuGgg.png 180638 51.7% extra_crit 168632 48.3% Mage_Fire_T18M 180 seconds +-20%, fixed time, Patchwerk The defaul...

Our forums do not serve as a venue for you to advertise your app, when it has nothing to do with Mages in World of Warcraft. Please take your advertisements elsewhere.

Re: felmouth frenzy + mark of doom "theory"
I'm not sure if this is true but I seem to get a higher chance on the crystal if I'm the first to agro the boss. Is there some kind of immunity until he's into combat? I reminds me of how the ring sometimes out in the wild doesn't do any damage unless mobs are already agroed. How does this have any...
