How does it happen that your upload is faster than your download?

A friend of mine lives in a student dorm that's located 50 meters from the Croatian higher education network server. Much jealous.

I'll upload mine later. My home internet at my parents is 90mb/s down and up(no joke about the up), at my own home it's 25mb/s down 5 up. Phone internet is 30mb/s down and up(4G <3) and my work internet is a gigabyte down/up.

I have no idea? It's really annoying at times

I still don't get how my upload is literally double my download.

The UK is pretty far behind when it comes to upload speed. Fast download (50mb-150) has slowly been made more and more available across the country across the past couple years but got no idea when upload speeds will catch up to some EU countries.

I have been promised so many times by my ISP that fiber is coming to my area soon™ but I think I'm just gonna give up on them at the end of the summer and switch. Why internet isn't one of the top priorities for phone and cable companies right now especially with the speeds that google has been putting out in the areas where it's available is beyond me, if google decides they want the market, they have it, I'd be pulling my socks up.
