Using non FoF Ice lance after waterbolt with Mark of Doom?

I saw a PoV recently of a Frost mage using Ice lance without FoF procs with Class trinket during Mark of Doom procs is this worth and if so what amount of enemies does it become worth it?

FoF-IL does 4.4x the damage of non-FoF-IL. This sounds like something you would be able to figure out just from hitting a dummy a few times and using a calculator.

Most of the time it's not worth it.

He said in AOE and it is worth looking at. However, you have to check all other spells available. For instance if it's better than Arcane Explosion/Blizzard or Unstable Magic-Frostbolt/Arcane Blast. I currently just throw an ice lance once at it if things around it will die in the next 2 sec.


By the way, the Iskar trinket might be better for that spec.

Komma didn't say it wasn't worth looking at, he said its usually not worth it. I'm not sure why you mention AE/AB in a thread about Frost. Also, you may want to re-read PoF's tooltip if you're considering Blizzard or AE as a way to trigger its damage.

PoF was made for Arcane, I think you're always better off using Tome + Gaze on Frost.

It was a comparison between ice lancing a doom and other spells, not a statement that blizzard would trigger doom.
