Frost Mage Mastery

This is my first time posting, so if I am posting in the wrong spot or doing something wrong please let me know. My question is about Frost Mage stat priority, specifically Mastery. I checked around, and from what I can find mastery is pretty much the worst stat for frost mages. Problem is every piece of gear I get has mastery. I have my loot specialization set to frost. I could actually go up 5-7 item levels if I put on all the mastery gear I have in my bank. Should I be worried about having too much mastery? Is it a big drop in my dps? Right now my mastery is 33%, haste 32%, and crit 28%.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

33% mastery is basically nothing because you start off with around 18% base. Don't worry, your statweights look good. Maybe switch some haste for crit if you have the chance

Those numbers are at my current gear, 875 item level. If I put on all my gear with mastery I go up to 882 item level, but mastery 51%, haste 23%, crit 24%. Am I better off just keeping my gear as is?

Sim yourself but likely going up that many itemlevels will be overall more dps because Int should be your highest stat over secondaries. So you're gaining so much more int with the 5-7 ilvls.

not quite the same as you but i had a similar problem mastery now 48% crit 26% haste 31% item level 884 from 875 while my crit and haste have come down from 34% and 32% respectively my dps hasreally gone up a lot, i tried different sets and pracctised on the training dummy in the class hall and also sim'd myself

also i picked up the bracers and have sephuz's have t19 2 pieces

what i dont understand is why i had such an increase in dps when my prime stats dropped!

so go ahead and go for the increase in ilvl

You benefit from mastery more when you play with BC for example. LW works out better for a higher level of gear with low amounts of mastery.

Way too much mastery on NH gear in general. My ilvl is 906 and I have 52% mast, 25% crit, %21 haste, 8% vers

There just isnt a lot of crit/haste gear unfortunately I haven't looked at the loot tables for ToS, hopefully its better?

I hope they try to improve the value we get from Mastery in 7.2.5, at least for Glacial Spike builds, seeing as that's falling more and more behind Thermal Void builds with the new traits. GS is the most fun I've had playing Mage in PvE in a long time, but currently I can't justify the DPS loss (almost 100k at Ilvl ~905 vs TV).
