The notes don't look particularly complete. I assume they will give us something in return for taking away Amplify Magic.

Preliminary numbers. Don't be fucking retards.

Red = 6.1

green = 6.2

Diff = ( new / old - 1 ) * 100. So it's a percent.

They really like nerfing brain freeze for some reason.

Confirmed the changes in the 6.2 notes are done in a manner that should be how blizz did it (multiplicative, not additive)

Confirming this. From testing with naked values, the mastery changes work exactly as we expected - direct multiplication to the value. In other words, arcane_damage = base_damage * (1 + mana_level * old_mastery * 0.94) and icicle_size = old_icicle_size * 1.13.

This also means that Frosted's single target values are what I'm getting as well. The change looks incomplete; I don't really see a reason for a Frost single target nerf. There might be something else that got changed drastically.

I checked for additional MS events for Frost and didnt notice any. So either something drastic isn't in, or is kind of subtle and we'll need to be told.

Or, it's just the first iteration! Which is probably more true.

So I realize the official patch notes say that "Arcane Missles now deals 10% more damage." But the diffstatesque spell changes mmo-champion does has:

Arcane Missiles Launches five waves of Arcane Missiles at the enemy over 2 sec, causing [ 1 + 25.9% 23.31% of Spell Power ] Arcane damage per wave.

Which is exactly a 10% nerf right? Which set of notes do you guys feel more reflects whats live on the PTR currently?

That's pretty interesting. A 10% nerf might make sense. Maybe the patch notes had it mixed up.

hi komma, by the looks of the tier 18 bonus for Fire spec n PTR notes, is it safe to assume fire BIS in next patch will include T17 2piece + T18 2piece ?

Planning to coin every shoulder n glove tokens until i get warforged + socket to prepare myself for the next patch.

Thoughts on the trinkets? The mage class-specific one looks disgustingly good for arcane so far, and supposedly the fire effect is that inferno blast summons a flamestrike below the target.

http://ptr.wowhead.com/item=124516/boss ... et&bonus=0" target="_blank

Also these are the other int dps trinkets with some thoughts..

1. Relatively shit: http://ptr.wowhead.com/item=124545/boss ... et&bonus=0" target="_blank

2. Decent for fire: http://ptr.wowhead.com/item=124227/boss ... -1&bonus=0" target="_blank

3. Probably BiS for arcane: http://ptr.wowhead.com/item=124228/boss ... -2&bonus=0" target="_blank

4. Laser show: http://ptr.wowhead.com/item=124229/boss ... -3&bonus=0" target="_blank

5. Frost bomb effect: http://ptr.wowhead.com/item=124230/boss ... -4&bonus=0" target="_blank

Seems like we'll be gunning for the mage trinket along with #2 and #3 for fire/arcane respectively.

Mage trinket is meh.

The class specific ones are pretty terrible. Keep in mind that the Arcane one has no mana cost reduction, which means it plays really poorly with glyphed Arcane Power. Also, whatever value it has, it needs to deliver it all within the limited timeframe of AP.

All the stat trinkets range from OK to pretty strong for Fire. Blacklight is basically BiS for everyone. Mark of Doom is exceptionally strong for Arcane and Frost, but not that great for Fire.

Also: Arcane Missiles appears to have received a 10% nerf on PTR, instead of 10% buff. The calculated spell coefficient is ~23.3% per tick. Patch notes have probably made a mistake.

Arcane Missiles were actually nerfed, not buffed. Above guy is right.

Why would they do that? They're taking away the one they gave to Hunters too. Rogues are probably next.

So it is goodbye top of the charts then?

MOD: While technically on topic, this post doesn't really help anyone. Can we keep the discussion to the patch notes or personal in PTR experience. Thanks.

~4.2% nerf to arcane and ~0.1% nerf to fire ST, before both scaling even more out of control with 725 gear leaves us pretty well off IMHO. The tier bonuses don't appear to be as good, but that arcane trinket seems unreal good.

Makes me wonder if it's Fire all the way then, ST + AoE fights.
Also taking into account the removal of Aspect of the Fox, which could hurt Arcane in potential upcoming heavy-movement fights (at least making it a lot more uncomfortable than Fire in comparison).

I think this will, as always, depend on the itemization in HFC. If Mastery is once again heavily favored, then I believe the status quo will be maintained—Arcane for ST, Fire for Cleave/AoE. But if gear were to feature Crit more heavily, and depending on the Fire 4PC, it could be that Fire becomes best in almost all scenarios.

This is all speculation for now, until we are able to sim in HFC BiS gear with the set bonuses. But my knee-jerk reaction is that the loss of the T17 Fire bonuses will make that spec underperform Arcane on ST.

I don't think Frosted's values took the Pyroblast DOT nerf into account. We didn't have PTR client data yet last night, and it wasn't listed in patch notes. It's probably a bit more than the 0.1% difference, which was mostly statistical noise.
