Incineration now causes the Mage to gain 15% (up from 5%) more of the Critical Strike stat from all sources.
Pyroblast’s damage has been reduced by 5%

What do you guys think? I'm loving the extra crit. Is this just a scaling fix for BRF? Anyone know what this does to the overall numbers? Im sure this will help smooth out the RNG.

Using napkin math and some sketchy sims I'm coming up with it being about a 1.6% increase

it isnt a 15% increase, its a 10% increase (because it was already 5%), and its not adding 10% crit, its increasing your crit by 10%, so if you were at 40% you'll be at 44%

Preliminary sims say ~1% nerf to single target, ignoring the haste change.

Hmmmm not sure what I think about this. If it's only a 1% difference I guess it doesn't matter much.

Would this make Kindling more viable?

Yes, but it still won't be better than Meteor/PC in real fight environments until you can reduce Combustion to < 60 seconds. Then it would shine.

I imagine it's to address scaling concerns. By reducing the amount of damage contributed by Pyroblast, they reduce the gap in the secondary stat scaling between Fire and all the other classes.

what i feel with the new hotfix is to close the gap between geared fire mage vs not-so-geared fire mage

and less RNGs..

for me im a Pyroblast! person, which is a huge % of my total dmg comes from Pyroblasts. a 5% nerf will definitely hurt alot, however, with the increase of the crit and haste rating, i might pump out more pyros perhaps? cant really tell till tested out tomorrow.

according to posts on Mmo champion and twitter theese class tunings should be live allready on US (havent been home to test on EU yet)

They are live on Draenor EU. Went from 39% to 42.64% crit.

Didn't really notice much difference compared to before just slightly less rng with fireball.

Interesting change, both buffing and nerfing the scaling of fire. Shouldn't really change much in our current gear, but in BRF+ gear I think this is a scaling buff. 15% more crit from gear, and 1.3 modifier from CM is basically getting 1.5 crit per 1 point of crit.

Don't really think this change has any noticible effect until we get more gear.

It seems like blizzard is trying to keep each spec pigeon-holed into having their attunement stat be their best secondary with these changes. Despite this, unless fire 4p gets changed I don't see crit overtaking mastery in mythic ilvls.
