Who are you?
So you don't have to ask yourself why some random guy with one post is making this guide. I am currently a raider for <Big Dumb Guild>. Top 10 World for mages since 7.2 on Raider.io and Wowprogress.

Image

Woo a stream, started streaming recently! No set schedule yet :P https://www.twitch.tv/herusx

So who's this guide geared towards?
Don't expect this guide to tell you how to play Frost in a +6 key, you can learn the basics of Frost here on the AT forums. This guide is for those that want to:
  • Push to and clear their weekly dungeon easily
  • Push keys for that sweet M+ score
Gear Stat Priority
Frost Mage stat priorities for M+ will largely remain the same. One exception being Haste, which gains value the more targets there are. As always, to be optimal with your own gear Always SIM yourself.
Check out the post here to learn how to sim yourself. There is also a well maintained website that makes simming yourself really simple and easy. Legendaries
Now for the fun stuff, Legendaries. Frost is unique in that almost all the legendaries available will be used at least once and have their role in certain situations. There are three categories for legendaries: ST DPS, AoE DPS, and Defensive.

-ST DPS Legendaries
The best ST setup for bosses currently is http://www.wowhead.com/item=138140/magt ... bonus=3570 + http://www.wowhead.com/item=132410/shar ... bonus=3570.

There is also the http://www.wowhead.com/item=151810/shat ... bonus=3570 + http://www.wowhead.com/item=132410/shar ... bonus=3570 setup which may sim higher for some but might not be the case for all. As usual SIM yourself.

Apart from these two, ideally you want to have http://www.wowhead.com/item=132410/shar ... bonus=3570 as it allows you to have multiple http://www.wowhead.com/spell=80353/time-warp throughout the course of a dungeon. No other legendary can provide the same benefit Shard gives you. Remember http://www.wowhead.com/spell=80353/time-warp isn't just for bosses, if the timing allows it and your group is already http://www.wowhead.com/spell=57724/sated feel free to use http://www.wowhead.com/spell=80353/time-warp on a difficult trash pack.

-AoE DPS Legendaries
There are multiple setups for AoE DPS but I'll list the most notable ones here.
The best overall setup for now is http://www.wowhead.com/item=138140/magt ... bonus=3570 + http://www.wowhead.com/item=132452/seph ... bonus=3570. The haste proc is a big DPS increase whenever you can proc it. Along with the extra passive haste, this setup makes for the best AoE DPS in most situations.

The second best setup would be http://www.wowhead.com/item=138140/magt ... bonus=3570 + http://www.wowhead.com/item=151642/soul ... bonus=3570.

Although Sephuz + Bracers is the best simming combination, there is an alternative setup that is almost as good. The new class ring http://www.wowhead.com/item=151642/soul ... bonus=3570 is a really decent setup without the upkeep of Sephuz. It allows for more http://www.wowhead.com/spell=112965/fingers-of-frost procs which in turn allows for more movement. Soul is a great substitute over http://www.wowhead.com/item=132452/seph ... bonus=3570 if you don't have Sephuz yet. I highly recommend using Sephuz and getting a weak aura to track the CD on it.

-Sim was done on 5 targets for 60 secs with http://www.wowhead.com/spell=12472/icy-veins and no http://www.wowhead.com/spell=80353/time-warp, Credit to Norrinir for the sims.
Image
-Sim was done on 5 targets for 60 secs with no http://www.wowhead.com/spell=12472/icy-veins or http://www.wowhead.com/spell=80353/time-warp, Credit to Norrinir for the sims.
-both sims have "Sephuz30" proc at 1 sec and another at 31 sec and "Sephuz60" proccing once.

The last being http://www.wowhead.com/item=144260/ice-time&bonus=3570 + http://www.wowhead.com/item=133970/zann ... bonus=3570. This setup saw some play last season when 2p+4p wasn't a thing, but not so much anymore. It does have uses here and there but only for very specific situations where burst AoE can be set up.

-High Burst AoE
Gonna dedicate a small section here to our favorite meme http://www.wowhead.com/item=144260/ice-time&bonus=3570. Ever since we were able to use http://ptr.wowhead.com/spell=242252/ite ... t-2p-bonus, Ice Time's value has actually skyrocketed. In fact it is the highest simming setup for AoE and scaling far better with higher mob count than http://www.wowhead.com/item=138140/magt ... bonus=3570 + http://www.wowhead.com/item=132452/seph ... bonus=3570.

Image
-5 targets 2 min duration
Image
-10 targets 2 min duration
Image
-15 targets 2 min duration
-All sims were done with my own gear, Ice Time sets using T20 4p instead of T21. Sephuz procced on CD and no http://www.wowhead.com/spell=80353/time-warp.

But due to the fact that Ice Time needs proper positioning and 10 secs for its damage to go off, this set is really only viable in certain niche situations. Also with the requirement of T20 2p, potentially T20 4p as well if the trash packs live long enough, this set is only worth taking if your T20 pieces are at a high enough ilvl. In any case sim your options for AoE, especially if you're considering this set. That being said, this set has some of the craziest payouts I've ever seen in m+.
-side note: The nova from http://www.wowhead.com/item=144260/ice-time&bonus=3570 can be shattered and should be shattered if possible with http://www.wowhead.com/spell=122/frost-nova

Not going to include http://www.wowhead.com/item=151810/shat ... bonus=3570, http://www.wowhead.com/item=132411/lady ... bonus=3570, http://www.wowhead.com/item=144259/kilj ... bonus=3570 in this list because there are just better options. Building up stacks for optimal use of http://www.wowhead.com/item=151810/shat ... bonus=3570 is too much of a burden for such minor gain. http://www.wowhead.com/item=132411/lady ... bonus=3570 is still a decent AoE legendary if A) no Soul/Bracers and/or B) no 2p+4p since it takes up a tier slot. Lastly http://www.wowhead.com/item=144259/kilj ... bonus=3570 is just a waste of a legendary slot that can be more than compensated for by a good trinket. If these are all you got try to pair them with http://www.wowhead.com/item=138140/magt ... bonus=3570 if you can.

-Defensive Legendaries
If you're not going to be pushing keys past a 15 don't worry about this section.
The best defensive legendary you could possibly use is http://www.wowhead.com/item=132444/pryd ... bonus=3570. Paired with http://www.wowhead.com/spell=198094/ice-barrier I can have a 2.5mil absorb shield which is enough to survive almost all mechanics thrown at you in M+.
Whereas http://www.wowhead.com/item=133977/belo ... bonus=3570 is just as strong giving me a 1.1mil shield every blink. Although in most situations where a defensive legendary is needed wasting http://www.wowhead.com/spell=212653/shimmer charges for a shield isn't as optimal as Prydaz's passive shield.

The cool thing though is that the combination of http://www.wowhead.com/item=132444/pryd ... bonus=3570 + http://www.wowhead.com/item=133977/belo ... bonus=3570 gives me an insane 3.4mil shield which is sometimes necessary when DPS isn't an issue.

Trinkets
Just like Legendaries there are ST and AoE trinkets for Frost.

-ST Trinkets
Just like in Raid your ST trinkets will remain almost identical, but I'll put some specific trinkets. Pantheon trinkets will be excluded from this list since 99.9% of the population does not have one.
The single best trinket you can get for ST right now is http://www.wowhead.com/item=151955/acri ... =3612:1502. Here's a quick rundown of the other top trinkets for ST: -AoE Trinkets
With the release of Antorus comes by far the best AoE trinket Frost can get, http://www.wowhead.com/item=151962/prot ... =3610:1472, otherwise known as the ROCKET. It is the single best trinket for AoE, cleave, and ST if high enough ilvl. Although Frost doesn't see as huge of an increase from AoE trinkets as Fire or Arcane does with trinkets like http://www.wowhead.com/item=151969/term ... =3612:1502, you will still see considerable gain from these:
  • Stat Stick: Haste or Vers
-When using http://www.wowhead.com/item=151970/vita ... =3612:1502 make sure to always use it on the target with the highest HP % as it scales off of the mobs HP %.
-http://www.wowhead.com/item=151969/term ... =3612:1502 should always be used away from a trash pack as the ship can hit itself, reducing the number of times it can hit the target.

-HUGE WARNING, http://www.wowhead.com/item=151962/prot ... =3610:1472 is currently bugged and WILL pull mobs that are not currently in combat.

Relics
Relics still follow the same guideline as raid with an exception. If you want to maintain raid damage follow this for more on relics, racials, etc.
-credit to Glynny
Image

To maintain high overall dmg and still have solid ST DPS, the best relic setup to go for would be 3x http://www.wowhead.com/spell=195322/let-it-go relics to take advantage of the constant AoE and http://www.wowhead.com/spell=84714/frozen-orb resets throughout the dungeon.

Tier
With the introduction of a new tier comes new bonuses: http://ptr.wowhead.com/spell=251859/ite ... t-2p-bonus and http://ptr.wowhead.com/spell=251860/ite ... t-4p-bonus. Although Tier 21 bonuses aren't as strong for AoE as Tier 20 was, it still provides strong priority damage.

For ST your best combination is T20 2p (http://ptr.wowhead.com/spell=242252/ite ... t-2p-bonus) + T21 4p (http://ptr.wowhead.com/spell=251859/ite ... t-2p-bonus + http://ptr.wowhead.com/spell=251860/ite ... t-4p-bonus)

For AoE, always take http://ptr.wowhead.com/spell=242252/ite ... t-2p-bonus regardless of what tier combinations you have. It is our single best bonus for AoE. As for your other pieces, this will come down to ilvl and legendary combinations you choose to use. SIM your options, just because http://ptr.wowhead.com/spell=242254/ite ... t-4p-bonus + http://ptr.wowhead.com/spell=211411/ite ... t-2p-bonus is strong on paper doesn't necessarily make the ilvl loss worth it.

Talents
The go-to talent setup as of now focuses on our cleave/AoE talents while still maintaining high ST DPS. With varying choices here and there for utility depending on the dungeon.

Image

Tier 1
http://www.wowhead.com/spell=205024/lonely-winter provides the highest overall DPS out of all 3 talents. Arguments can be made for http://www.wowhead.com/spell=205027/bone-chilling and pet usage, but in most cases will be a DPS loss.
Tier 2
http://www.wowhead.com/spell=212653/shimmer is hands down the most versatile choice on this line, especially in situations requiring http://www.wowhead.com/item=133977/belo ... bonus=3570.
Tier 3
http://www.wowhead.com/spell=1463/incanters-flow is our best ST and AoE talent choice here. No reason to go for a ST talent in http://www.wowhead.com/spell=55342/mirror-image or hindering yourself with http://www.wowhead.com/spell=116011/rune-of-power.
Tier 4
http://www.wowhead.com/spell=56377/splitting-ice should always be taken no questions asked. It is our best AoE talent and for some people their best ST talent.
Tier 5
http://www.wowhead.com/spell=235224/frigid-winds provides the best slow in the game and the most overall use in this line. Also provides the best utility for http://www.wowhead.com/affix=8/sanguine, http://www.wowhead.com/affix=2/skittish, http://www.wowhead.com/affix=4/necrotic. http://www.wowhead.com/spell=113724 has its uses when a stun/cc is necessary for certain mobs and http://www.wowhead.com/spell=205036/ice-ward pairs well with http://www.wowhead.com/item=132452/seph ... bonus=3570 and helping tanks kite mobs.
Tier 6
http://www.wowhead.com/spell=205038/arctic-gale our best in this line by far. Again more http://www.wowhead.com/spell=84714/frozen-orb = more damage.

Edit- When it comes to http://www.wowhead.com/spell=112948/frost-bomb, yes it is still a decent talent to take into M+. However it is SO far behind http://www.wowhead.com/spell=205038/arctic-gale, not necessarily in DPS gain, but more so in terms of overall benefit. Not just your benefit, but your entire team.
Tier 7
With recent changes to how http://www.wowhead.com/spell=199786/glacial-spike and our http://www.wowhead.com/spell=76613/mastery-icicles work http://www.wowhead.com/spell=155149/thermal-void is our definite winner for ST DPS. With the changes to TV giving us an extra 10 sec duration it has also become our best AoE talent providing us with well over 40 secs worth of IV during trash pulls.
As for the http://www.wowhead.com/spell=199786/glacial-spike players out there, it is definitely not a bad choice in M+. In fact it is still a very good talent to take into M+, but this guide focuses on the Thermal Void aspect of Frost rather than GS.
Sorry http://www.wowhead.com/spell=153595/comet-storm you have your spot in farm keys and PvP, but never in high M+.

Racials
Racials in M+ make a huge difference compared to its counterpart. Apart from DPS gains with races like Troll http://www.wowhead.com/spell=26297/berserking or Dwarf http://www.wowhead.com/spell=59224/migh ... e-mountain, the utility certain races provide make up for certain aspects Frost lacks in. The top 3 racials to have in M+ in terms of racials are:
An AoE silence can easily save your group from a wipe.
A stun break can save yourself from an unfortunate death.
Shadowmeld can completely negate an entire mechanic if timed well.

Get accustomed to your racial, you never know how useful it might be! For example since I'm a Dwarf and I get http://www.wowhead.com/spell=20594/stoneform it allows me to clear the http://www.wowhead.com/spell=227742/garrote from http://www.wowhead.com/npc=114312/moroes#abilities.

Spells and Cooldowns
This part of the guide isn't going to map out each button press to the dot. It's going to give you general guidelines to take advantage of the weird timings that come with M+. Along with Utility spells most people don't even have binded!

So How Do I Do TOP DEEPS?!?!
The biggest mistake most Frost mages make in M+ is holding http://www.wowhead.com/spell=12472/icy-veins and additionally the http://www.wowhead.com/spell=195448/chilled-to-the-core buff. In combination with http://www.wowhead.com/spell=155149/thermal-void it provides incredible burst AoE and some of the best sustained AoE in the game. Learning dungeons and getting comfortable with your group's DPS/Speed is the biggest factor in timing IV usage between bosses. Taking advantage of the http://www.wowhead.com/spell=195345/frozen-veins?rank=0 traits between IVs is the second biggest factor. Just like in Raid the biggest boost in your DPS is your http://www.wowhead.com/spell=12472/icy-veins uptime.

The second mistake is http://www.wowhead.com/spell=190356/blizzard usage. The general rule of thumb is Blizzard on CD when there are 2+ targets. Since more http://www.wowhead.com/spell=84714/frozen-orb = more damage. But using Blizzard even on 1 target is going to be a HUGE gain if it means Frozen Orb will be off cooldown going into the next pack of 5 mobs! Remember http://ptr.wowhead.com/spell=242252/ite ... t-2p-bonus uptime is almost as important as IV uptime.

The third mistake most Frost mages make is improper usage of our buff http://www.wowhead.com/spell=195419/chain-reaction. As I stated earlier the more Frozen Orbs you get the more DPS, but this is also affected by our chain reaction buff. Saving http://www.wowhead.com/spell=190447/brain-freeze or even ignoring it is a HUGE mistake. Your goal is to get as many Frostbolt crits in between http://www.wowhead.com/spell=228598/ice-lance casts as possible to build/maintain http://www.wowhead.com/spell=195419/chain-reaction.

-Edit: since many people have asked, proc munching is a very real aspect of Frost AoE. Learning to prioritize your procs is what separates a good Frost mage from a subpar one. As for http://www.wowhead.com/spell=195419/chain-reaction stacks. Its best to maintain this buff during AoE even if it means munching a http://www.wowhead.com/spell=112965/fingers-of-frost.

The last mistake most DPS in general make is improper Prepot usage. In our case its http://www.wowhead.com/item=142117/poti ... nged-power. If your goal is to push keys keep these stockpiled at all times! Now for proper usage of prepots, you want to prepot every pack that you can and can afford to. Which means prepot before combat begins so that http://www.wowhead.com/item=142117/poti ... nged-power goes on cooldown and can be used on the next pack. Rinse and repeat throughout the dungeon and it'll basically be like having an extra 2500 int. To help that here's some things I personally do:
  • If time allows for it, ask your tank to wait on prepots. It might even save your group from a wipe.
Utility Spells
As a Frost mage we have A LOT of utility. We have http://www.wowhead.com/spell=219407/polymorph, http://www.wowhead.com/spell=122/frost-nova (two with http://www.wowhead.com/spell=205036/ice-ward), http://www.wowhead.com/spell=113724/ring-of-frost, http://www.wowhead.com/spell=190357/blizzard, and yes even http://www.wowhead.com/spell=120/cone-of-cold. Now you might ask what's the point of Utility? Well when the key level gets higher and higher you can't always pull an entire mob pack and burn through it. Sometimes you have to CC certain mobs to avoid the risk of wiping. This is where spells like http://www.wowhead.com/spell=219407/polymorph and http://www.wowhead.com/spell=113724/ring-of-frost come in handy. As well as http://www.wowhead.com/spell=122/frost-nova, http://www.wowhead.com/spell=190357/blizzard, and http://www.wowhead.com/spell=120/cone-of-cold for kiting mobs from hitting your tank or melee.

Specifically, correct http://www.wowhead.com/spell=219407/polymorph usage is really crucial for high m+. CC'ing a mob completely out of combat until ready to be killed is highly valuable. Certain mobs such as http://www.wowhead.com/npc=95842/valarjar-thundercaller with their http://www.wowhead.com/spell=198595/thunderous-bolt and http://www.wowhead.com/spell=198599 can easily wipe a group on a high level http://www.wowhead.com/affix=10/fortified key.

http://www.wowhead.com/spell=113724/ring-of-frost is also very useful in high m+ since it is our only incapacitate spell as a Frost mage. Mobs such as http://www.wowhead.com/npc=98691/risen-scout#abilities with their http://www.wowhead.com/spell=200291 can do millions of damage onto an entire group if not stunned, disorientated, or incapacitated. Given that Frost only has one of those 3 as a talent, http://www.wowhead.com/spell=113724/ring-of-frost should only be used in specific situations that require it. It is also a tricky spell to get used to, it's not an instant CC like http://www.wowhead.com/spell=31661/dragons-breath or http://www.wowhead.com/spell=119381/leg-sweep.

As for the other Utility spells, apart from http://www.wowhead.com/spell=190357/blizzard use your head and kite appropriately. For example don't http://www.wowhead.com/spell=122/frost-nova during http://www.wowhead.com/affix=2/skittish when your tank is running. It'll get your melee killed! Unless you like messing with your friends...

Lastly, DO NOT FORGET ABOUT http://www.wowhead.com/spell=2139/counterspell. Kicking casts in M+ is more important than most people realize. A lot of mobs have spells that can easily kill you or your entire group. Now obviously knowing what to kick and what to let by comes with practice and experience, but just keep in mind to kick casts. If you're lucky you might be with a good group that can guide you to interrupt casts. Otherwise trial and error!

Minor Defensive Spells
We have one minor defensive and it's possibly the best one in the game! http://www.wowhead.com/spell=11426/ice-barrier is arguably the best minor absorb in the game. With a 25 sec CD and near 1.3mil absorb shield for me at 927 ilvl it'll help you get through A LOT of mechanics without having to use http://www.wowhead.com/spell=45438/ice-block at the wrong time. Use it religiously it'll save your healer some mana and ultimately make the run go quicker. Less time wasted on healing in between packs means more DPS uptime.

Tips and Tricks
Here are some tips and tricks that can either improve QoL or even provide big DPS increases that you might not have known about.

The biggest tip I can give you in M+ is keybind http://www.wowhead.com/spell=30449/spellsteal it is in my opinion one of the most useful aspects of being a mage in M+. There is a huge range of mob abilities that can be spellstolen as well as purged, here's some of the most notable: The best way to keep an eye out for these buffs is to either download an addon that displays the spellstealable buffs clearly or through Elvui, which gives an option to highlight spellstealable buffs with a yellow border. There may be other ways to track it that I'm not aware of but I personally go about it through Elvui.

-Edit: I have actually forgot how to make spellstealable/purgeable buffs appear with a yellow border on Elvui. If I or anyone else finds out how to do so I'll update the guide ASAP.

Apart from http://www.wowhead.com/spell=30449/spellsteal there are plenty of innovative and cool ways to use our spell kit to either mitigate or negate entire mechanics. Spells like http://www.wowhead.com/spell=236645/shimmer and http://www.wowhead.com/spell=45438/ice-block.
http://www.wowhead.com/spell=236645/shimmer can be used to: http://www.wowhead.com/spell=45438/ice-block can be used to either clear harmful debuffs or immune a plethora of boss mechanics: If you haven't noticed yet mechanics that can be avoided by http://www.wowhead.com/spell=236645/shimmer tend to be mechanics that include a travel time. While mechanics that can be avoided with http://www.wowhead.com/spell=45438/ice-block tend to be big one-shot mechanics that can either target you or another player. Also don't forget to use http://www.wowhead.com/spell=235219. Either as an extra http://www.wowhead.com/spell=11426/ice-barrier or http://www.wowhead.com/spell=45438/ice-block. Play around with boss mechanics and see what works and what doesn't, can't quite give you all of my secrets :D.

Gear Swapping
Gear swapping is a HUGE part of optimizing M+ performance, you can't be running an entire dungeon using just ST gear and expect to top meters! There's two ways to get comfortable with gear swapping that I know of. One is to use the in game gear manager then binding the gear set to a key or clicking the set on a bar. The other way, which is what I use personally, is through an addon called Opie Rings. The addon page can explain it in full, but it basically uses one keybind to give you a radial dial to put whatever you want. Here's a quick look at what it looks like.

Image

-link https://mods.curse.com/addons/wow/opie

One thing to note when it comes to gear swapping is that on-use trinkets will go on a 30 sec CD timer even if it is already "off CD". So if you're using something like http://www.wowhead.com/item=147012/umbr ... =3562:1497 or http://www.wowhead.com/item=147017/tarn ... =3562:1497 make sure you give yourself enough time before its use.
-hot tip:use http://www.wowhead.com/spell=66/invisibility to gear swap even in combat!

Glacial Eruption Shattering
Here's a minor trick that can help squeeze out a bit of AoE DPS if timed correctly. With the addition of new traits in 7.2.5 http://www.wowhead.com/spell=214634/ebonbolt?rank=0 got a new passive through the http://www.wowhead.com/spell=238128/gla ... ion?rank=0 trait, which on its own isn't very strong. The cool thing though is that since it has a small AoE it can in fact be used to hit multiple targets and can be shattered with http://www.wowhead.com/spell=122/frost-nova. The timing is tricky!

Weakauras
Apart from standard spell cooldown and buff trackers there are a couple of weakauras I use specifically to help me with M+. Addons
I personally do not use a lot of addons specific to M+ and don't find any of them to be particularly useful. There are however a few general addons that are a must if you're serious about pushing keys.
  • DBM or LittleWigs -just like in raid, its your biggest tool for M+ bosses.
  • Weakauras -to take advantage of those awesome weakauras I listed.
  • Details! -or any other damage meter. However I recommend getting one that shows damage taken and death recounts accurately so that you can learn what abilities are killing you.
Consumables and Miscellaneous Items
With every dungeon you should be prepared to come in with at least: Optional: So what's your role as a Frost Mage?
I'll split this up into two categories one for Farming either for the gear or the weekly and the other for Pushing Keys.

Farming
Your role as a Frost mage will predominately be ST DPS, but that doesn't mean you should slack on your AoE DPS. Frost is one of the better specs in the game when it comes to M+ with solid AoE and one of the best ST DPS in the game. We also provide great Utility for some of the trickier Affixes. If its http://www.wowhead.com/affix=2/skittish, http://www.wowhead.com/affix=4 week kite the adds and help your tank. Frost is also amazing at killing http://www.wowhead.com/affix=13/explosive and managing trash health during http://www.wowhead.com/affix=7/bolstering weeks with http://www.wowhead.com/spell=56377/splitting-ice. Don't be afraid to soak mechanics with http://www.wowhead.com/spell=45438/ice-block and control adds with http://www.wowhead.com/spell=30449/spellsteal and http://www.wowhead.com/spell=219407/polymorph. Just like in Raid we're not just a reliable source of damage, we also have great utility for all sorts of mechanics.

Pushing Keys
When it comes to pushing keys your role will be just like when you're farming keys. Except when it comes to higher level keys, expect to do a lot more than just DPS. As a mage you should be aware of what mobs are CC'able with http://www.wowhead.com/spell=219407/polymorph and in the right situations. Keeping track of your groups http://www.wowhead.com/spell=2825/bloodlust as well as your personal http://www.wowhead.com/spell=80353/time-warp. Knowing what mechanics you can immune with http://www.wowhead.com/spell=45438/ice-block and avoid with http://www.wowhead.com/spell=236645/shimmer. What mobs you can http://www.wowhead.com/spell=30449/spellsteal to not only boost your DPS but also to reduce the number of http://www.wowhead.com/spell=2139/counterspell needed. As far as damage is concerned you should be prioritizing procs to maintain high uptime on http://www.wowhead.com/spell=12472/icy-veins and http://www.wowhead.com/spell=195419/chain-reaction. Using http://www.wowhead.com/spell=190356/blizzard on CD along with http://www.wowhead.com/spell=84714/frozen-orb to have high uptime on http://ptr.wowhead.com/spell=242252/ite ... t-2p-bonus. Gear swapping efficiently so that you're using the right Legendary setup for the current pull.

Weakaura Links
I've recently made my own Frost mage weakaura set, as well as one for Arcane, that are tailored more for M+ than for raid. I also customized a set of weakauras tracking certain abilities in dungeons that I found to be the most useful.

Aside from Frost specific things regarding M+, a lot of your success in pushing keys comes with a lot of practice. Being knowledgeable with all the dungeons takes time. Min/Maxing every little thing you can takes a lot of practice and execution. Remember that M+ is a race against a timer, every little thing adds up.

Feel free to add your insight, I'm more then welcome to new ideas and strategies. Also if you think I'm wrong feel free to correct it I'm more than willing to admit fault.

If you see me on discord feel free to ask questions, currently going by Herusx ⛄
Have fun pushing keys :D

In arcway if it happens and http://www.wowhead.com/npc=105617/eredar-chaosbringerr finish the cast called http://www.wowhead.com/spell=226285/demonic-ascension you can also spellsteal it and kill the mob without facing transformed deadly creature.

Nice frost M+ guide here.
Sth to point out:
KJ/Active isnt bad in M+, they can both activate when M+ begins so you can equip KJ/pharamere and fire KJ/orb for the first big pack of trash mobs. Then you swap with other trinkets.
Better have different gear set, so you can fully use legos like sephuz in trash/shard right after boss/soul when sephuz is on CD. Btw if you are going to use shard just check your M+ mates have lust/heroism to avoid waste of lust.
Active trinket have 30s CD when equipped, so better check/estimate how your tank pull the mobs before you equip it.
Spellsteal can be used as purge like Demonic Ascension
Invis can be used as threat clear. For example in EoA King Deepbeard, you can aggro the two giants at the gate and tell your teamates going in, then press invis. If you time well then you can go in right after the giants going back to their position. Or told your healer to res you,
SI may not be very optimal choice in some dungeons. For example in EoA Serpentrix you prob will aggro seagull or crabs which most likely disorient your tanks and lead to your melee's death. I guess you may do so if you need to settle the score.

Don't forget that you can use spellsteal like a purge, for example the demonic ascension from chaosbringers in arcway.

Herux,

thank you again for this guide. I was intrigued by your recommendations for AOE legendaries and have since tried both of the Rings with some success. While you could theoretically proc Sephuz on cooldown, interrupting a particular spell always takes priority. In some occasions that can also mean interrupting on cooldown, which makes you lose out on the proc. Therefore, I also prefer the other ring as well.

What I was wondering is whether that combination would make Frost Bomb the better choice compared to Arctic Gale (I'll try that tonight). You have procs for days and you could line it up nicely. Frost Bomb > Orb > Blizzard > IL would give you a Frost Bomb for the full duration of the T20 2pc while still getting the Orb CD reduction. Napkin math is pretty convincing for it as well.

I'd also be curious what you think about running Sephuz & Ice Time on Trash. Proccing Sephuz on cooldown is guaranteed with this due to the Nova / Sephuz interaction. Since it can crit for almost a million it might overcompensate the DPS loss from the bracers (which take some time to ramp up) on larger packs. While you'd lose T19 2pc you'd gain good stats on the shoulders and Sephuz, higher ilvl on your other T19 item and a reliable high Sephuz uptime. You just have to be careful sometimes not to use your Orb too early if the pack doesn't have a caster in it.

Another combination I was curious about would be Sephuz & Soul, paired with Ice Nova and Frost Bomb. Nova also triggers Sephuz reliably, which could be used to make sure it overlaps with everything else. That would certainly cost you some boss damage, but during fortified weeks it could well be worth it.

Great guide Herux !

Another tips for the Ice Block soak part:

In KZ Upper, on the Wyrm boss, your group need to soak many balls in order to prevent the boss AoE. And mage is really strong on this one if you got a rat as a mount for this boss.

So just climb on your rat, and Iceblock during the spawning balls phase. The rat allow you to moove during your IceBlock and thanks to this, you can soak two spwan during the fight. (Cold Snap)

Not really usefull on small key, but for 20+key or tyrannical one it's a nice advantage.

Like you said, switch gear is primordial in high MM+ and sometimes, i use IceTime legendary for big packs of adds with less pv (Imp in CoS, Rats in Arcway, Crab in EoA...)

I've only ever tried frost once in upper kara but there was a bug with the rat making my orb fly off into the sky and do absolutely 0. Ever encounter such a think? Also, it's not possible to blink on the rats either afaik?

Haha yea the rat makes for some interesting interactions, but there's ways around it! For frozen orb all you need to do is get in melee range of the boss for the orb to actually path into hit range. Which isn't a problem cause you can cast while moving.

Also you can in fact blink while using the rat and even move around with ice block. Tested to the fullest this week and it works like a charm!

Yes, you cant blink with the rat. But you can double IL during your burst with it thanks to the move speed.
And like Herux said, you need to be in melee range for your orb.

Sorry to say but even I can't remember how to get the yellow border on the spellstealable buffs. If I do figure it out again I'll make sure to update this guide. Sorry :(

Will polymorph always put you in combat with the thing you polymorph? I feel like I often poly something out of combat, skip that mob and a minute later that thing comes back to me angry as hell

It does not put you in combat but it also does not remove the aggro radius of the mob. If you walk past a sheep you can still aggro the mob which will then chase you once free.

Yea basically what Zul said, and each mob has its own aggro radius in M+ so you gotta be careful what you poly to skip packs. Make sure your group knows too.

Thanks for the clarification, I was wondering how this mechanic actually worked for the longest time.

A quick note on Frost Bomb: I've been running this for the last week (Bracers with Soul of the Archmage, thanks to op) and found it to vastly outperform Arctic Gale. My overall DPS throughout the dungeons went up considerably, maybe someone could confirm my findings.

The sequence Frost Bomb>Frozen Orb>Blizzard>IL does crazy amounts of AOE damage, helps to focus down the priority target and gives you the same orb reset time. Frost Bomb will be up for the entire duration of T20 2pc and Soul of the Archmage will give you more than enough procs to pull ahead of Arctic Gale.

Plus, and that's what I like most I think, you get to press an extra button! :)
