Thermal Void Question

Unread postby Uralya Sat Dec 06, 2014 2:28 am

Should I be keeping Icy Veins up for all of MI, even if that means forcing it via Ice Lances with no FoF?

No, only cast IL with FoF active. Or if you're moving and aren't able to use another ability.

So potentially you'll only be adding ~16-20 seconds to your Icey Veins? I though the whole point of TV was for 100% up time of IV?

These 2 possibility depend on a lot of factor :
> cast IL over FB will decrease dps that should be compensated by IV buff.

It's a thigh balance and it seem that with actual gear, it's not worth to go for 100% IV up-time.
We will need to wait for T17 and/or better gear.

Thanks, just was looking at top parses and seeing ~30ish seconds of IV being very significant dps boosts. O_o

Was trying my 10 minutes rotation (self buffed) on dummies with BL.
First 10 minutes i used Ice Lance as filler spell to keep up IV 100%.
Second attempt i did normal rotation with Frostbolt as filler spell.

My conclusion was that I had the same dps using ice Lance as filler spell.
Im not so high at simc, anyone feel like simc a rotation with ice Lance as filler spell and 100% uptime on IV and compare it to normal rotation?

It's certainly a good thing to extend IV as long as you can, but that's going to come from pairing IV with water jet as well as frozen orb. Ideally you'll have two charges of FoF before going into IV, then you can immediately dump them for +4 seconds (minus GCD), then use frozen orb and start spamming frostbolt to generate more.

It's important to be as near as possible of the gcd cap. It help gainning the maximum from each IL.

30 Seconds of extra IV is easily doable without using non FoF procs. You get at least 6 FoF from water jet alone in the entire duration. On any fight with adds, frozen orb can easily give you 5+ as well from a single orb. That's 11 (22 seconds) of postponed already. Add in normal proc rates, and you easily get 30+ seconds extra uptime.
