Pet Macros and Waterjet?
Pet Macros and Waterjet?
Question for you guys.
Is anyone using a pet macro to interrupt a waterbolt cast to immediately cast waterjet? I notice often that i have to keep spamming the waterjet button until my ele casts it. Just wondering if there is a /cancel petattack macro or anything.
Thanks!

Re: Pet Macros and Waterjet?
I use petpassive to cancel water bolts then pet assist to have it back on it.
Re: Pet Macros and Waterjet?
Perhaps something along these lines would work? Not tested myself, just a thought.
/petpassive
/cast Water Jet
/petassist
/petpassive
/cast Water Jet
/petassist

Re: Pet Macros and Waterjet?
There's no use to put Welly on passive from my test.
Water Jet have a 1s cast time before it began.

Re: Pet Macros and Waterjet?
Quick macro I came up with :
#Showtooltip
/petattack [nomod]
/cast [nomod] Water Jet
/cast [mod:shift] Freeze
The key press alone will order the pet to attack (if he's not doing so already) and start casting Water Jet.
Shift + Key will allow you to cast freeze w/o ordering the pet to attack (when you have a target and want to wait for the pull to freeze + 2x IN)

Re: Pet Macros and Waterjet?
I don't know what issues you had with water jet I just have it keybound on pet bar and doesn't fail. Usually start using it as soon as I start casting frostbolt and by the time that first frostbolt lands Water Jet is active and I get that FoF proc.
Re: Pet Macros and Waterjet?
I simply wasn't accounting for the 1second cast time. I assumed the delay was because my pet was finishing his cast of waterbolt.
Re: Pet Macros and Waterjet?
Here's one I've been using since forever. No idea who the original author is:
Summons the pet if he isn't there yet. Commands the pet attack. Casts pet freeze on click (if it's in button 5 on your pet bar, you may be able to change it to /cast Freeze)
And for water jet it's just a simple
I've yet to see him delay the water jet cast to finish a waterbolt.
Code: Select all
/cast [nopet] Summon Water Elemental
/stop casting
/petattack
/click [pet] PetActionButton5
And for water jet it's just a simple
Code: Select all
/showtooltip Water Jet
/cast Water Jet
Re: Pet Macros and Waterjet?
I did not know that "/stop casting" works. I always thought it was "/stopcasting", one word. Here's one I've been using since forever. No idea who the original author is:Code: Select all
/cast [nopet] Summon Water Elemental /stop casting /petattack /click [pet] PetActionButton5
Re: Pet Macros and Waterjet?
Since we're talking about Pet Macros. Anyone else using this one? I been seeing a lot of mages using this macros. Was wanting to know if any one else does as well.

Re: Pet Macros and Waterjet?
Its not a good idea to macro Frostbolt and Water Jet together, because you want to time your Water Jet cast so that your Frostbolt hits it right as it starts.Since we're talking about Pet Macros. #showtooltip
/cast Frostbolt
/cast Water Jet
I can't look up my macro but its really basic - just casts Water Jet and casts Freeze with a shift modifier and its bound to its own key so its entirely separate from Frostbolt.

Re: Pet Macros and Waterjet?
I keep water jet separated, so I can time it with my Frostbolt as you said. But I have the Freeze macro'ed with my Frostbolt, and it's really annoying to always see that green-aoe thing every time it comes off cooldown. That shift modifier macro you mentioned with the water jet looks really sweet to me, I'm gonna try it today. Its not a good idea to macro Frostbolt and Water Jet together, because you want to time your Water Jet cast so that your Frostbolt hits it right as it starts.Since we're talking about Pet Macros. Re: Pet Macros and Waterjet?
Why would you need a macro to stop waterbolt casts?
Does it automatically for me when i press waterjet.

Re: Pet Macros and Waterjet?
I use a simple macro of:
#showtooltip Frostbolt
/cast [mod:alt] Water Jet
/cast Frostbolt
I usually start a Frostbolt, hit alt and then start spamming the next one about half way through. The Water Jet will start asap and the next Frostbolt will come right afterwards.

Re: Pet Macros and Waterjet?
Weird, I copy/pasted the macro from the in-game menu. The correction made by Diidel to "showtooltip" (which doesn't work with a capital "S") shouldn't prevent it from working.[snip]
Tried this macro, but it didn't work here :/
#showtooltip
/petattack [nomod]
/cast [nomod] Water Jet
/cast [mod:shift] Freeze
From my macro "cache" file, in WoW folders.
Mageski's option seems better though (as it saves a binding), as long as you don't need the /petattack command.

Re: Pet Macros and Waterjet?
Here's mine, hope it helps
How this works:
If your pet isn't summoned, it will summon your pet for you. If your pet is summoned, it will cast Water Jet instead.
Code: Select all
#showtooltip Summon Water Elemental
/cast [nopet] Summon Water Elemental
/click PetActionButton6
If your pet isn't summoned, it will summon your pet for you. If your pet is summoned, it will cast Water Jet instead.
Re: Pet Macros and Waterjet?
I do all my casting on the number pad. I press NP <2> for Frostbit and <SHIFT> 2 casts Water Jet. I find it very easy to hit <SHIFT> Mid-cast and just tap the <2> a second time to get the Jet going at the perfect time and Proc 2 FoFs.
I find this a very fluid way to do it, and it's second nature now.
