IRC mod for the website

back at an old mage board I used to mod, we had an IRC add-on that allowed people to login from the website. It was during that time that we had the most visitors/activity on the board. I'm not sure if you have the backend that can support it, but definitely something to look into

You can add a link to this page

http://webchat.quakenet.org/

and customise the link to provide a default channel like this

http://webchat.quakenet.org/?channels=a ... ime&uio=d4

Which will prompt the user for a nickname and automatically join #alteredtime.

You can also customise the colours. Check out their wizard by going to the first link, and up the top left click the dropdown then Add webchat to your site. Then just include it on the site in an iframe, or a popup window or whatever you decide.

This saves you worrying about hosting one yourself. If you really want though you can host it yourself and set it up but there really isn't a need.

I'll look into it. We can easily add a webchat to the site, that's not the issue. I actually really like the idea.

Yeah it shouldn't be too difficult, good idea. There is a link somewhere but I realise that an actual webclient will be a bit more attractive.

There a lot of mod for phpBB to run basic integrated chat basic function but it's like 5 years that I haven't check php. But I can help if needed.

We are already beyond the point where we can just install mods casually sadly. Have a bit of patience, the page will be there soon.
